Most people think of a trampoline as a fun toy for kids to jump and tumble on, and it is also a great way for them to burn off some excess energy. What you might not realize is that jumping on a trampoline can also help you relax. When I’ve had a particularly busy and stressful day, spending 20 to 30 minutes on a trampoline always helps me unwind. Here is how I use my trampoline to help me relax.
The first thing I do is get into some comfortable workout clothes. I like fabrics that are soft, breathable and easy to move in. Then I simply climb onto my trampoline and start jumping. Jumping for 20 to 30 minutes provides me with a great low impact cardio workout, and studies have shown that this is a great way to burn calories and get some exercise without putting a lot of stress of the body. The trampoline can absorb up to 80 percent of the impact shock, which means very little stress for your body.
Simply jumping on a trampoline causes the body to release endorphins, and this is extremely beneficial. These chemicals released by the brain can help relieve the symptoms of depression, stress and anxiety. They also help my body to relax, improve circulation and best of all I can enjoy better sleep at night, which always helps me to relax.
I have even noticed that my muscles are becoming more toned and my flexibility has improved, all thanks to my nightly jumping sessions on my trampoline. The best part about this low impact workout is that my core muscles are stronger, and this means less lower back pain and this always reduces stress. An added bonus is that my abdomen muscles are also stronger, and this has given me a lean, toned shape.
When I’m trying to relieve stress on my trampoline I like to have music playing in the background, and I prefer jazz. Listening to music when I’m jumping really helps me to relax and forget about my stressful day. It also helps to block outside noise so for a few minutes I can feel like I’m in my own little world. Another advantage is that only one person can safely use my trampoline at a time so I don’t have to share it with anyone else.
